Who couldn’t use a good laugh? (and don’t forget about my podcast, Parky Conversations.)
So I’m taking responsibility for your positive mental state by providing you with a menu of laughter-inducing content. You may find none of it to your liking- humor is after all very personal. Or you may say “Thank you Andi for introducing me to such fun stuff.” And if you really, really like it, you may even think “Wow, Andi, you saved my holiday weekend!” Of course you might also think something on the order of “ What is wrong with her?”
At the very least I hope some of these suggestions merit a smile. Note: most of these are under the radar. Here’s an opportunity for your friends to see you as a trendsetter, or, in today’s parlance, an influencer.
Have some fun!

Note: some of these are recycled from previous posts. But I’m guessing you didn’t watch most of them the first time around anyway.
TV
Takes place in a hospital long term care unit. Brilliant cast includes Laurie Metcalfe, Niecy Nash and Alex Boorstein. I thought it was hilarious.
Does the co-creator of Seinfeld really need an introduction?
SCTV – Canada actually beat the US to it in the weekly sketch comedy department. While it ran concurrently with SNL, I always thought it was way funnier. Cast includes Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy as comedian Bobby Bittman, way before American Pie and Schitt’s Creek, Andrea Martin, and Martin Short.
Just For Us – Comedy Special by Alex Edelman
The Great Depresh – another comedy special, this one featuring comedian Gary Gulman
Derry Girls I know I’ve been shoving this down your throats since this blog began. You’ll know why when you give this very funny show a chance.
Movies
A very funny slice of Americana – a teenage beauty pageant. Sad note: it is not currently available except for BluRay or DVD purchase on Amazon. Add it to your watch list for now.
The Entire Works of Christopher Guest, especially Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind, Oh, and This is Spinal Tap. not technically a Christopher Guest film, but he’s in it, so why not?
Crazy times with Alan Arkin and Peter Falk.
Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion
Ridiculous and really funny. Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino fake it at their reunion.
Warren Beatty at his Warren Beatty-est. Captures LA in all its 70’s glory
Schedule your own Albert Brooks Film Festival featuring Modern Romance, Real Life and please give a shot to Lost in America (in my opinion, his funniest).
Robin Williams at his best.
Book
A couple of little girls decide their mother needs a “man at the helm,” and they attempt to find her one. There aren’t too many funny books out there, but this one had me laughing out loud.
Whether or not you watch or read any of my suggestions, I hope that you enjoy a lovely Thanksgiving!
And hey, maybe you can use the holiday weekend to catch up on my podcast, Parky Conversations.
I LOVE the movie “Mrs Doubtfire” and agree with you completely about Rob
