An appeal to our country’s leaders

When I began this blog, I vowed not to be political.  I’d leave that minefield to others sharper, better informed and with a much wider reach than mine.

The Moving and Shaking blog will continue to focus on Parkinson’s Disease, the vagaries and vicissitudes of aging, and whatever captures my attention that week.  And here’s what’s on my mind at the moment..

Hear my primal scream!!!!  The current state of affairs brings into sharp relief how people felt – chilled to the bone – in 1930’s Germany.  More than terrified though, my main emotion is disgust at every powerful entity – corporation, university, and others -who has capitulated to the whims of this madman grifter. I implore you, in the immortal words spoken to Joseph McCarthy, “Have you no sense of decency?”

Or a scintilla of a conscience?

Please, leaders! Show some spine and consider Benjamin Franklin’s admonition that we aim for a “republic, if you can keep it.” You, leaders, have the power to stop this slide towards totalitarianism. On behalf of all Americans, I’m begging you to show real leadership, and help us restore and retain our precious democracy.

I agree totally. Where are the Government elected oficiales with awareness and backbone!? We are slipping into totalitarianism! Why are there not many more protestes?

I totally agree with Andi. Far too many people are ignoring the obvious and putting their heads in the sand to put it nicely. What is wrong with our elected officials, not standing up to this monster. He has been in office less than a year and has totally destroyed our government and everything that’s good about America. This is not America. I know where we have free speech and corporations are bowing down to him and his whims. . He has to be stopped because in the 30s they didn’t and look what happened. They believed nothing could happen but it did and 6 million people perished We should never have this repeated again. What are we dummies! We have to protest like we did in the 60s with outrage and with a purpose to keep a democracy or we will be another Third World nation. We’ve been fore warned.
