Lean in…to lethargy

I woke thinking….Hmmm. Well I probably wake thinking hmmmm every day. Today’s hmmm translates as “how can I waste house-bound guilt-free time today? But is there really such a thing as wasted time anyway? I mean we spend time. We use time., sometimes wisely sometimes not. Either way, those five minutes are gone forever..

What’s my point here? I’m not smart enough to know the answer to a question that would stump Kant. Or Kirkegard. Or any of the great philosophers I know nothing about except that they’re frequent responses to Jeopardy questions.

I hereby declare today productivity-free. For me that means no laundry. Definitely no cooking. With one hand god gives us a blizzard. With the other she hands us a ready-in-five minutes -no-dishes-to-wash frozen Indian dinner from Trader Joe’s. And if I get just the teensiest urge to send my book proposal to a bunch of snowed-in literary agents, I shall command myself to grab that plastic rectangle calling to me from the couch aka the remote and find myself a fun double feature (welcome suggestions). Perhaps I should just search for the least cheesy Hallmark channel offering I can find. . Or in keeping with the spirit of this snow day, maybe it should be the cheesiest. Hmmmm.

You are so hard on yourself. Everyone deserve a relaxing day to watch the snow. I would watch Shakespeare in Love or Pieces of April (the best Thanksgiving movie thanks to amazing performances by Patricia Clarkson and surprisingly Katie Holmes. While I don’t miss snow, I don’t let the lack of it deter me from my remote, Beth

sorry about the blizzard. Writing from beautiful, sunny but windy Cancun. But, oh! We have been told to shelter in place because of riots and murderous gangs. I think I’d prefer blizzards!

Writing from cold and windy Florida, wondering if we’ll make it back to Boston on Wednesday without delays. Chances now look slim. Traveling in the winter is such a crapshoot.
