Or so you’d believe if you read, well, pretty much anything. Coincidentally, I’d already decided on today’s topic; I just had to write it. I scrolled on over to my mail, clicked on the icon, and voila! My mail opened on this, from my friend and fellow Parky blogger (and so much more) Sharon Krischer, aka. Twitchy Woman. Sharon wrote: “it’s 3:50 AM – I need sleep!” And that’s all she wrote, folks.
And that’s almost all I’ll be writing this week. I had originally planned to conduct a survey about people’s feelings regarding sleep and sex, hoping that the results would prove my thesis: sleep looms larger in people’s minds, and receives much more media attention than sex, with statistics to prove it. But I’m too tired. I’m almost always too tired. I get what most people would consider a good night’s sleep, the recommended 8 to 9 hours. You’re saying “ what’s she got to complain about?” Ho ho ho. Those hours are not restorative. I wake up feeling the way I did after pulling an all-nighter in college. All I desire is to close my eyes and produce some zzzzzzs.

So I do the New York Times Mini-crossword, Wordle, Spelling Bee and, if feeling extra-smart, Connections. (I am deeply ambivalent about Connections).
And when I’m done with the news and the puzzles, I return to dreamland, a fitting moniker for what goes on in my head during those hours. We Parkies are prolific and vivid dreamers.
Frequently, when I’m awake during the day, I daydream about going to bed. My actual nighttime ritual looks something like this: I take a nice warm shower, after which I don a pair of my brand new pj’s, I bought two for summer, and two for winter. They were a splurge, and I haven’t regretted buying them for a moment.
I straighten out my bedding and pillows. And, with yes, pleasure and even a bit of true joy, I pull the covers up to my chin and happily drift off. And I won’t lie to you; it feels so very good.
If, come morning, for some reason I’m unable to experience a post-puzzle nap, I’ll almost certainly need an afternoon snooze.
I’m quite sure the cause of my excessive sleep is my medications of which there are many, and several of which indicate not to drive a truck while under the influence. My movement disorder specialist and I are working out a possible reduction in some medications, which we hope will lead to a more suitable sleep schedule .
Nighty night. And may all your dreams be sweet.

Hi Andi Brown! I love sleep too, and the crazy, vivid dreams I have! But what’s with the photo of the shmutzy looking pj’s on your couch?
xo, knny
