About three years ago, I received an invitation to a journey I had no desire to embark on. “No, I’m good” I told Mr. P, as I contemplated my impending retirement filled with novels to read and write, trips to take, language skills to improve…you get the gist. Instead, Mr. P. kidnapped me, with a promise never to let go. Aaaaaaaargh!
OSo, with an obvious topic and natural audience thrust upon me, Moving and Shaking, my blog about living with Parkinson’s was born. With nearly 20,000 readers and growing, I seem to have struck a chord, offering people with Parkinson’s and thousands of others a way to move beyond life as a patient and, at the same time, to inform and entertain. For medical advice, look elsewhere. But for some laughs at the expense of this miserable disease, with a few life lessons along the way, you’ve come to the right place.
People appear to be interested in my story, so I’m taking the show on the road. Are you in a Parkinson’s support group? Or maybe you live in a community that offers programs to its residents, who might be interested in the adventures of a top blogger. I’d be delighted to meet with your group and share my experiences with Parkinson’s as a blogger, and about life in general. .
I’ll also give you a sneak preview of my podcast, which will feature appearances by regular Parkies like us, and experts like scientists and physicians who can explain how boxing is beneficial, why some of us experience a surge in creativity, and what’s up with Ping Pong Parkinson’s.
if you’re in the Boston area, I can attend in person, and if you’re not, that’s why Zoom was invented.
Please do get in touch via email (andib88@comcast.net) if you’d like me to attend an upcoming group gathering. I’d be delighted to meet you.
