I’d be titled Something Always Lost or Broken. I’m supplying the lyrics; the melody is on you. It would go something like this:
Last week I lost your love
The second time around
You’re out there with my other glove
In some store’s lost and found
You’re lost but never found, never found never found
On the subway you go round and round, round and round
My poor lost glove
*************
My new love fell beneath the seat
Those sunglasses mighty fine
I bought them as a treat
And now I have to whine
In someone else’s purse they lie lie lie
While I’m out $300; I cry cry cry
*********
It’s raining hard and hissing
My eyes too are teary
My umbrella has gone missing
Of losing things I’ve grown weary
Nothing missing today – Yea!
But song includes things broken too
Today it’s my coffee maker, grrrr.
And wait, not Comcast too?
***********
And there you have it – my holiday bonus blog post. Faux country songs notwithstanding, I hope the new year restores to you your lost gloves, sunglasses, umbrellas, friendships, and loves. And may your coffee pot and cable connection and especially your health remain whole for yet another 365 days. Happy New Year!
That’s great, Andi Brown! So witty and fun! A wondrous new year to you too, dear Andi Brown!
