Check it out! I have been nominated for an Academy Award….oops, that’s the unfiltered part of my brain that you’re not supposed to see.
In truth, I’ve been nominated for an International Women’s Podcasting Award (Click on the down arrow in the catrgory “Moment of Factual Clarity) by Everybody Media. an innovative, women-led media company producing authentic, inclusive audio content, and serving the podcasting community. The awards will be presented at a ceremony in London on June 17, which I will attend virtually.
Thank you all who supported my work, both blog and podcast. These are deeply personal endeavors, especially the Moving and Shaking blog. I’m so grateful for those of you who came along on my journey, whether you read a single post or, bless you, every entry.
The podcast was more of a challenge. With the blog, I’ve been mining my own experiences, requiring me to research nothing more than whatever the hell’s lurking in my own grey matter, whereas the podcast required that I Learn New Things. Yikes! Somehow, I managed to figure stuff out, which was a blessing for someone with Parkinson’s who lives in constant fear of “the big D,” Dementia.
I must give a shoutout to my partners in crime, starting with Bruce Gellerman, a journalism pro who provided tutorials on nearly every aspect of producing a professional show.
Karen Given, my outstanding editor, knew exactly what to cut and what should remain in order to produce the most compelling series.
If you think the blog might make a a pretty decent book and you know someone in publishing, please have them get in touch at andib88@comcast.net
I believe that the pleasure I’ve found in the act of creating has nourished me through the early stages of my retirement and illness. My creativity and my sometimes ridiculous dreams, misguided though they may be (see first paragraph above), are keeping me alive and engaged at the age of 74 and living with a mightily unpleasant chronic illness.
Thank you for reading and listening.
Woo-Hoo!! The best gets the prize!! (fingers crossed)

That’s terrific. I always knew you’d be a star, starting with your role in Annie Get Your Gun. Keep the great news coming. I look forward to your Moving and Shaking every month.

It shall come to pass. You won’t regret not going to London for the award? Smilin’, Marilyn PS Come sing with us on June 11 for the Art of Resilience “performance” at JF&CS Waltham! There’s a rehearsal/class at the usual time and place on Monday, June 9.
How about offering a blog entry on some to pic for the Wworld Parkinson Ccoalition conference media strings that leAd up to the Conference in Phoenix next May ? And maybe after you win the award, WPC will want you to do a live podcast from Phoenix during the conference. My job is to sit here in my recliner, dreaming up things for you to do so that I can smile and enjoy them (and you).
And can you believe, Norm and I went a Pd pilot class in rowing on Sunday! Yes, sculling on the Charles river! Well, we were in a training boat that was kind of like an aircraft carrier, but you have to start somewhere.
